Graduation Requirements

Tiffin Columbian High School Graduation Requirements:  21 Credits 
Graduation Requirements Credits  Description
4 credits  
4 credits Must include 1 credit of Algebra 2 or the equivalent of Algebra 2
3 credits Must include 1 credit of Physical Science, Biology and 1 credit of Advanced Study
Social Studies
3 credits

Financial Literacy
1/2 credit
Can include any of the following courses: Consumer Education, Economics, Personal Finance, Single Survival and Career Exploration 
Fine Arts
1 credit
Students must complete at least two semesters of Fine Arts in grades 7-12. Students who successfully complete a career-technical pathway are exempted from the Fine Arts requirement
4.5 credits
 Includes Business/Career Tech, Fine Arts, or Foreign Language
Total  21 credits
Students must use at least one option to show that you are ready for a college or a job:
Option 1- Ohio's State Tests
Students must earn at least 18 points on seven end-of-course state tests.  End-of-course tests are:
  1. Algebra 1 or Integrated Math 1  5. English 1
  2. Geometry of Integrated Math 2  6. English 2
  3. American Government  7. Biology
  4. American History
Each test score earns you up to five graduation points.  You must have a minimum of four points in math, four points in English and six points across science and social studies.  
Option 2- Industry credential and workforce readiness
Earn a minimum of 12 points by receiving a State Board of Education-approved, industry-recognized credential or group of credentials in a single career field and earn a 13 on WorkKeys, a work-readiness Test.  The state of Ohio will pay one time for you to take the WorkKeys test.
Option 3- college and readiness tests
Earn the "remediation-free" scores in Mathematics and English language arts on either the ACT or SAT.

Honors Diploma 
For the Academic, International Baccalaureate, and Career Tech Honors Diplomas, students who entered the ninth grade between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2017 may choose to pursue the diploma by meeting the requirements of these criteria or the previous criteria.
Students entering the ninth grade on or after July 1, 2017 must meet these criteria.
