Graduation Requirements

Tiffin Columbian High School Graduation Requirements:  21 Credits

3 credits Must include 1 credit of Physical Science, Biology and 1 credit of Advanced Study

Fine Arts

Students must complete at least two semesters of Fine Arts in grades 7-12. Students who successfully complete a career-technical pathway are exempted from the Fine Arts requirement EXCEPT Cosmetology 10 & 11.

Student are required to pass all five parts of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT).  Students not passing all areas of the OGT will not participate in graduation ceremony.
Students must use at least one option to show that you are ready for a college or a job:
Option 1- Ohio's State Tests
Students must earn at least 18 points on seven end-of-course state tests.  End-of-course tests are:
  1. Algebra 1 or Integrated Math 1  5. English 1
  2. Geometry of Integrated Math 2  6. English 2
  3. American Government  7. Biology
  4. American History
Each test score earns you up to five graduation points.  You must have a minimum of four points in math, four points in English and six points across science and social studies.  
Option 2- Industry credential and workforce readiness
Earn a minimum of 12 points by receiving a State Board of Education-approved, industry-recognized credential or group of credentials in a single career field and earn a 13 on WorkKeys, a work-readiness Test.  Teh state of Ohio will pay one time for you to take the WorkKeys test.
Option 3- college and readiness tests
Earn the "remediation-free" scores* on either:
English- 18 or higher Writing- 430 or higher
Mathematics- 22 or higher Mathematics- 520 or higher
Reading- 22 or higher Reading- 450 or higher
Your district will choose either the ACT or SAT for all students in your district to take for free during a one-time statewide spring test in 11th grade. 
Honors Diploma 
Core requirements - must meet 7 of 8
4 credits of English
4 credits of Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 + higher)
4 credits of Science (Chemistry & Physics required)
4 credits of Social Studies
3 credits of one foreign language OR 2 credits of 2 foreign languages
1 credit of fine arts
GPA of 3.5 or higher
ACT composite of 27 OR SAT composite of 1210
